Smorgon Historical and Regional Studies Museum

The museum was founded in 1984. The mission of the museum is to acquaint people with the certain chapters of the history of the Smorgon land, mainly with the exposition devoted to the Krevo Castle, with the production activities of the people and their spiritual culture (the end of the 19th — the beginning of the 20th centuries), with the events of the 1st World War and the 2nd World War that left their destructive marks on the Smorgon land, and also with the famous countrypeople: writers, musicians, artists. The most distinctive museum projects of recent years have been: the 2007 international conference devoted to the events of the 1st World War in Belarus, and in cooperation with the Belarusian National Arts Museum the organization of the exhibition of graphic artists who participated in the 2nd World War. The museum fund consists of 9,476 items (2012). Among the most valuable museum objects are: the Krevo ceramics of the 14th—16th centuries, the photo album of the family of Ivan Sinitsky (the beginning of the 20th century), the magazines "the Great Patriotic War in Images and Pictures" (1916—1917). The museum hosts thematic tours, as well as a variety of activities: celebrations, meetings, local history quizes and presentations.
